The gel-consistency formula clings to vertical wheel surfaces, providing extended contact time for effective cleaning without rapid run-off. Upon contact with ferrous brake dust particles, the cleaner changes colour (typically to red), providing a visible indication that the active ingredients are dissolving and lifting contamination. The pH-neutral formulation is safe for use on painted, powder-coated, polished, chrome, and anodised wheel finishes without risk of etching or damage.

Application involves spraying the product onto dry or wet wheels, allowing it to dwell for a few minutes while the colour-change reaction occurs, then agitating with a wheel brush and rinsing thoroughly with water.
